The leader of a parliamentary watchdog said that she was “staggered” that London 2012 organisers had managed to so dramatically underestimate the number of security personnel required to oversee the Olympic games, which could cause the cost of the Games to go way over its planned £9.3 billion budget.

Last December, the Government announced that the number of security guards London needed as part of Britain’s largest peacetime security operation had more than doubled to 23,700 from 10,000, causing a steep rise in the cost of services.

LOCOG, the body responsible for staging the games, and the Interior Ministry claimed that security planning had only been possible once the venues had been built and competition schedules put in place. However, public finance watchdog, the Public Accounts Committee, said it was “particularly concerned about the significant increases in the security bill.”

With the continued increase in security services London, The Public Accounts Committee said that only £100 million could be left in the Olympic reserves once potential risks had been taken into account.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has undertaken spot checks on all security guards working in Swansea city centre.

Investigators from the security guard licensing authority, accompanied by Swansea Council representative, visited the city centre on Friday, where they visited 11 sites with operational security guards including retail units, job centres, shopping centres, courts and a housing options office.

During the process of their investigation, the 24 security guards who were checked were all found to have a valid Security Industry Authority license. However, two of the security guards examined were issued with warnings for failing to notify the SIA of a change of address and for failing to display the licence whilst on duty – both of which are breaches of the SIA licence conditions.

Security Industry Authority head of investigation Paul Cartlidge said:

“I am pleased with the compliance levels found. This operation was a positive example of partners working together for a safer city.”

The operation was carried out to ensure manned guarding services in the area were operating legally.

The inspection came as a result of information received by the Security Industry Authority which had suggested that there had been unlicensed retail security guards activity taking place in the area.

Growing concerns about dog attacks have caused ministers to consider the possibility of making it a legal requirement for all dogs, including security guard dogs, to be microchipped.

A survey conducted last year estimated that there are about 8.30 million dogs in Britain. Currently more than half of them, have microchips implanted, which allows them to be electronically identified.

Microchip tagging also means that the dogs can be traced back to their owners, therefore, creating a clear line of accountability of a dog’s actions. Groups including the RSPCA have called for compulsory microchipping to be introduced and it is hoped that such a scheme would encourage more responsible pet ownership.

Ministers have been accused of being slow to reform dangerous dog laws, but Lord Taylor of Holbeach promised an announcement soon.

“We are close to finalising a package of measures to tackle irresponsible dog owners,” he told the House of Lords. “We see microchipping as part of the measures we can do to address an increasing problem.”

Microchips hold an owner’s personal details, as well as a unique identity number. Having a chip installed can cost as little as £5.

All of LAPA’s guard dogs security service dogs are microchipped because we feel it important that security guard companies tag all of their guard dogs.

A brave security guard had a knife held to his throat by a desperate thief after he attempted to block his escape from a robbery.

Wayne Driscoll, a member of security guard companies working for Bolton University, refused to budge from a doorway as a robber attempted to make his escape from a crime scene, despite repeated threats that he would be stabbed.

Driscoll’s actions prevented knife-wielding Anthony Webb, who was jailed for two years, from leaving the administration area at the University of Bolton he was attempting to steal from.

The security guard’s bravery was praised by Judge Charles Bloom, who was presiding over the case.

“He was a very, very brave man. With commendable bravery, he stood his ground,” said Judge Bloom.

The 48 year old father of two insisted that he was no hero and was just doing his job.

“I was not worried when I saw the knife—it is what I am trained to do. I am not brave, I was doing my job.”

Many security guards will encounter danger, much like Wayne Driscoll did, so if you wish to hire a professional security guard trained to deal with all sorts of situations, then enquire about our security guards london service.

Until now the largest demonstration was seen on New Yorks Wall Street earlier this week, however a Facebook page for the London protest has attracted more than 13,000 followers, with an approximate 5,000 attendees for the protest later today.

“Why are we paying for a crisis the banks caused? More than a million people have lost their jobs and tens of thousands of homes have been repossessed, while small businesses are struggling to survive.” – Laura Taylor of OccupyLSX

She continued: “Yet bankers continue to make billions in profit and pay themselves enormous bonuses, even after we bailed them out with £850 billion.”

Protests are being held worldwide in an attempt to fight back against corporate greed and government cutbacks affecting the quality of life by regular citizens. Additional protests are expected later today across Madrid, Rome and Athens.

LAPA SECURITY ANNOUNCE ANTI PIRACY COUNTER MEASURE FORCE

LONDON, United Kingdom (March 10th, 2011) – LAPA Security have announced the exclusive launch of a Pre-paid, international security service for shipping clientele, worldwide.

“It is our intention to supply an armed Lapa Security mothership, with full emergency medical facilities, upon which four SF spec, high speed ribbed craft would be deployed, crewed by armed ex- British SF personnel which would then intercept pirates prior to attacks on vessels within the designated convoy group.” – Capt. Richard Graham, LAPA Security

This counter measure is aimed specifically at pirates operating in international waters, with a strict focus on ensuring the protection of valuable cargo and personnel, before incident. Along with a full equipped mothership, LAPA Security have developed their services to provide emergency response teams for additional ships which come under attack.

“We also anticipate to be in a position to offer an emergency response service (QRF) deployment, for those vessels not signed up to our protective services, yet in need of urgent assistance.”

This development comes as a security response to the significant increase in pirate attacks occurring across the globe, with recent attacks across Africa and the Gulf of Aden raising further concerns amongst multinational companies.

In response, the Anti Piracy service is aimed at insurance and oil companies which operate vessels across international waters, many of which are now pirate infested.

With the estimation of piracy costing businesses billions of dollars each year, this Anti Piracy service from LAPA Security will be a cost effective investment for any client, ensuring complete protection and, peace of mind.

For further information regarding this service, please contact:
